I’ve recently picked up the book The Happy Vegan: A Guide to Living a Long, Healthy, and Successful Life and it has me considering giving up meat, ok not all meat, but chicken and turkey. Just a little background, I stopped eating pork a few years ago and while I miss having my mom fry me up a pork chop, I don’t miss be taste of fried food. I hardly ever eat beef and never buy it at the grocery store, but will enjoy it in a bowl of pho.
In the past I’ve attempted a vegan lifestyle and failed after a month, this time I want to change my approach. I need to creat a SMART goal, you know Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time Bound. I want to take it week by week and remove meat from one meal per day, this won’t be terribly hard as I often do this without noticing it.
So here is where I will deviate a bit, I like cheese, eggs, Greek Yogurt and would prefer to hold on to them until I can find tasty alternatives. Yeah I know, that’s not really being a true vegan. So. I know I can’t go cold turkey, it’s better to take small steps and make them count.
My goals: I want to feel the health benefits from removing meat from my diet. Stay tuned as I take you through this journey.
