Ramadan 2014

Last night we visited The Ritz-Carlton, Doha for Iftar. We arrived at dinner 6 p.m. sharp. Once at the hotel, we found ourselves walking down an immaculately tiled hallway with tall ceiling and gorgeous chandeliers. Soon, we were greeted by the hostess and seated within minutes. The dinner was bet in a beautifully decorated ballroom. Maroon and gold were the colors, the lighting was purple, blue, and red. It was a scene right out of the movies.

The actual dinner would not begin until after sunset. The dinner options were endless. My first plate contained lamb, stewed okra and lamb, turkey biryani, chicken biryani, grilled vegetables, and fried shrimp. Before heading to our table we grabbed a cup of hibiscus tea and rose water.

I’ve included a link to a video put together by The Ritz-Carlton. Take a look at the decor, while 2014’s set up was similar the colors were a bit different.

We ate and drank until we couldn’t stuff anymore in our mouths. For almost two hours we stuffed ourselves past full and chose to skip Sohour because neither one of us could eat anything else for the night.

At the end of the night we caught a ride over to the Pearl and enjoyed a nice walk.
